The weather report was bleak but this not stop Jim, Steve & Bennie, Pete, Ross heading to the snowy mountains to participate in the 15th Annual Snowy Ride which raises money for the Steven Walter Children's
Cancer Foundation. Jim headed off early via Mount Beauty whilst Steve, Bennie, Pete & Ross stayed in Bright on the Thursday night. We all got a wet arse on the way, but also discovered some grouse roads. After crossing the divide we meet Jim at Thredbo
on the Friday afternoon and then rode down into Jindabyne to settle into our respective digs before having a great meal & a few bevies at the Banjo Paterson Inn. Ross & Jim walked 3k back to their camp site & Steve, Bennie & Pete caught the
only cab in town back to East Jindabyne. On the Saturday morning the weather had improved, that is it wasn't raining!! Still after breaky & coffee in town we all donned the wet weather gear just in case for a ride up to Charlottes Pass.
The first part of the ride was low visibility but then we broke through the clouds to brilliant sunshine & twisty open roads for a sensational ride past Perisher Village & up to the lookout over Mount Kosciusko at the top of Australia.
We had or cards stamped at the check point & then headed to Berridale for a counter lunch at the pub. It was then back through Jindabyne before heading to the Ski Tube car park for the mass ride up to Thredbo at 4.00 pm. The raffles were drawn but no CRAB
was fortunate enough to win the Honda. Perhaps next year. Jim stayed over in Jindabyne whilst Steve, Bennie , Pete & Ross scooted over (another great road) to stay at Bombala for the night. After a coldy at the RSL we enjoyed a great Chinese meal &
bottle of red at the Heritage. Sunday dawned sunny for the trip home where we arrived after 4 days of riding covering 1600 KM. What a great weekend for a great cause and over some of the best motorcycling roads in Australia. According to the website
(www.snowyride.org.au) there were 2358 bikes this year and $250k was raised to cure kids cancer. Can't wait until
next years ride
